The 54th CSJ annual meeting was held at the Kagoshima University, Shimoarata Campus on October 22-23, 2016.

The CSJ annual award was presented by the president Akira Asakura to Mariko Nakayama and (Nara Women's University) for her paper entitled "Life history and behavior of a rare brackish-water crab, Ilyograpsus nodulosus (Sakai, 1983) (Macrophthalmidae). Crustacean Research, 44: 11-19." with co-author Keiji Wada.

Symopsium

Symposium of "Biology of the EBI (prawn, shrimp, and lobster)" dedicated to Dr. Ken-Ichi Hayashi, Emeritus Professor of National Fisheries University was held. There were 6 presentations.

Prof. Tin-Yam Chan (Institute of Marine Biology, National Taiwan Ocean University) presented Prof. Hayashi with a stuffed specimen of Heterocarpus hayashii. Prof. Peter Ng Kee Lin (National University of Singapore, Left) handed the specimen to Prof. Hayashi.
