PAST SYMPOSIA

by

Carcinological Society of Japan

International Symposium: Frontiers in Crustacean Biology: Asian Perspectives

 Successfully completed!   6-9, Oct 2017

From right to left.  Jianhai Xiang (President Emeritus, Chinese Crustacean Society), Peter Kee Lin Ng (Singapore), Lim Shirley (Singapore), 朝倉, Benny K.K. Chan (Taiwan), Tsang Ling Ming (Taiwan), Ka Hou Chu (Hong Kong)

In light of recent development and internationalization of study of biology of crustaceans in countries in Asian region, it is the best time to start establishing Asian network of crustacean biology. Caricinological Society of Japan will host the network. As the first step to turn the idea into a startup, a symposium of this subject is organized. In this symposium, people who are intensively studying crustacean biology in Asian area are invited to present review of their study.

             Akira Asakura
             President, Carcinological Society of Japan

--- Program ------------------------

Jianhai Xiang (President Emeritus, Chinese Crustacean Society; Chinese Academy of Sciences) "Introduction to the Chinese Crustacean Society"

Peter Kee Lin Ng (National University of Singapore) "The nature of Asian carcinology: Evolution"

Lim Shirley (President Elect, The Crustacean Society, U.S.A.; Nanyang Technological University, Singapore) "Prospects and challenges in conducting crustacean ecological research in a highly-urbanized country"

Ka Hou Chu (The Chinese University of Hong Kong) "Resolving the decapod tree of life: the case of Caridea"

Tsang Ling Ming (National Taiwan Ocean University) "Application of Next-generation sequencing in ecological and evolutionary studies of crustaceans"

Benny K.K. Chan (Asian Governor, The Crustacean Society; National Taiwan University) "Larval biology of coral and sponge associated barnacles"
